2019 Off-Road Shows & Events You Don’t Want To Miss

Entering July means that we are halfway through the year even if you have yet to make it to one of this year’s must-see 4×4 events, there are still some exciting events you can make it to with your off-road vehicle this year. Whether you’re there to sign up and ride the course with other off-roaders or cheer them on while enjoying ice-cold refreshments and mingling with big-name manufacturers and racers, as well as seeing the latest and greatest products for off-roaders, you don’t want to miss these 4×4 and off-road events.

Planning on signing up to drive your truck or Jeep on one of the courses? If you plan on taking your rig out with “the big dogs” you’ll want to make sure it’s ready for anything.

Jeep Jamboree USA – 22nd Rubicon Trail 2019

When: August 8 -11

Where: The Rubicon Trail, Tahoe, California

What: Jeep owners get to traverse some of the most grueling off-road trails on this 22-mile, three-day event. As their website states, “Trail guides expertly spot you over legendary obstacles like “Big Sluice” and “Cadillac Hill” for an unforgettable experience. At each day’s end, fabulous outdoor cooking awaits.” Jeep’s in this event must have specific modifications to meet with the special trail requirements or be turned away. Additionally, each Jeep is required to have a minimum of two participants. Check out the rules and event itinerary, here

How To Prepare: If you are able to secure a spot at the 22nd Rubicon Trail Jeep Jamboree, you’ll want to stop by your Jeep off-road accessory store in St. George to make sure your Jeep is compliant. Red Desert Off-Road sells skid plates to cover your gas tank, transfer cases and rocker panels (just one of the requirements for participating at the Jamboree). Jeeps have also been known to take a beating on this trail, considering doubling up on protection by getting LINE-X protective coatings. This is the same durable formula we use for our truck bed liners in St. George.

In addition to outfitting your ride to meet the specific requirements, you need to be at least moderately experienced it trail riding-this trail is not for newbs. 

Sand Sports Super Show

Sand Sports Super Show

When: September 13 -15

Where:  OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA 

What: Every September one of the most exciting and largest “dune and dirt” sports Expo in the world comes to Costa Mesa, CA: The Sand Sports Super Show. Whether you’re there as an attendee to check out the latest gear and events and take part in the S4 Super Swap or are there as an exhibitor, this is an event no off-road enthusiast should miss this year. For three days you’ll be able to let loose and get up close and personal with the latest ATVs, Sand Rails, UTVs, off-road accessories and so much more

How To Prepare: As an attendee, you’ll want to call up your best buds or take the family to this event. One of the best things you can do to ensure you have a fun trip is by booking your hotel as soon as possible. Events like these draw thousands of people from across the country. Make sure you have a place to sleep by checking out the hotels that are participating in this year’s Sand Sports Super Show. 

2019 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo Powered by General Tire

When: September 28th and 29th

Where: Pomona, CA

What: One of the greatest expos in the country features some of the biggest off-road industry leaders. This event showcases off-road companies, equipment, gear, parts-you name it! In addition to mingling with big names in the off-road industry, fans are able to experience, “ the dynamic world of off-road thru ride alongs, racing demos, celebrity appearances, live music, industry media events and product giveaways all weekend long.”

Get Tickets: You have two different ways to attend this event, as an attendee or as an exhibitor/vendor

How To Prepare: Bring your off-road vehicle, your friends and family, and your wallet! There’s definitely going to be something at this event that you’ll want to take home with you. 

2019 SEMA Show

When: November 5 – 8 

Where: Las Vegas Convention Center Las Vegas, NV

What: Probably one of the most well known automotive shows, SEMA is for all car enthusiasts, off-roaders or not! This event is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the entire world. The 2018 SEMA show had over 70,000 domestic and international buyers! Vendors far and wide gather at this event to take part in an event that garners some of the hottest products and brightest minds in our industry. Not only will you get to see products you’ve never even heard about, but attendees are also able to attend educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events and more. Additionally, SEMA is one of the best places to network with people you would like to work with or learn more about their product or service.

How To Prepare: Get your hotels booked now, SEMA has a list of hotels at affordable and discounted rates for all SEMA attendees and vendors. Don’t want to drive there? Morongo Basin Search and Rescue Fund Raiser “Desert Run”

When: October 5, 2019

Where: Johnson Valley, CA

What: Held at Means Dry Lake this 20-25 mile 4WD course comes with 5 “game playing stations” along the trail. Be prepared to come against extreme rocks, sandy washes, and hills, enough to give the hardcore enthusiast a run for their money. Not to worry though, as their website states, “If you don’t feel comfortable with an obstacle, we’ll direct you to the easy way around”. This is a family event, complete with prizes and is open to all types of 4WD vehicles, including ATVs, UTVs, Dirt Bikes and Buggies, and Rat Rods. 

As the 40th year of this event, MBSAR plans to make this the best “Run” ever!
